Eastenders: Kat Slater’s ‘exit’ storyline revealed

EASTENDERS fans reckon they spotted Jessie Wallace’s final scenes in the soap after the actress was suspended for on set behaviour.

The 48-year-old star’s character Kat Slater took an urgent call out of the blue - and then packed up suddenly and left.

Why is Jessie Wallace leaving EastEnders?

It was revealed in January that Jessie had been suspended from EastEnders after allegedly drinking on set. 

Bosses held a crisis meeting and decided to axe her from the soap for two months so she could “sort herself out”.

The actress had already filmed scenes for the soap’s 35th anniversary special - which was filmed out of sequence - so writers had to come up with a storyline to explain her temporary departure. 

Fans are devastated by her departure, and flocked to Twitter to express their dismay.

One fan tweeted: "I don’t think I can cope without Kat for the next few months #EastEnders."

Another added: "I don't think it's a coincidence that the UK goes into lockdown just as Kat leaves Eastenders."

What was Kat Slater’s exit storyline in EastEnders?

Fans watched Kat Slater receive an urgent call on the BBC soap last night. 

Speaking to her phone in the crowded pub, she told the mystery caller to calm down and breathe slowly. 

She later broke the news to her boyfriend Kush that she was leaving but asked him to trust her and that she’d text him.

She promised she’d be back one day, before marching out of the pub.

Who was the mystery caller in EastEnders?

Fans are convinced that it was Stacey on the other end of the phone and that the pair will make a dramatic comeback together, with Lacey Turner having been absent from the soap for maternity leave.
One fan said: "Convinced Kat has gone to see Stacey and they’ll return together in a few months #EastEnders."

Another added: "Where did Kat have to go urgently to? I know she's been written out but where is she going."

A third said: "So who is Kat off to see ??class="r-18u37iz">#EastEnders."

But with exact plot details being kept under wraps, only time will tell who was on the other end of the phone.
