Liam Payne praises ex Cheryl on Mother’s Day as they celebrate son Bear’s third birthday
LIAM Payne has paid an emotional tribute to baby mama Cheryl on Mother's Day.
Liam, 26, praised his ex Cheryl and wished their three-year-old son Bear a happy birthday.
The ex-One Direction star took to Twitter to also thank his own mum for helping raise himself and Bear.
"Double special day today thanks to 2 very special ladies and a very special little man...
Happy Mother’s Day mum and Cheryl you two are the most amazing mothers Bear and I could have asked for, thanks for raising me right and thank you Cheryl for showing my son all the love in the world," he wrote in the heartwarming tweet.
Liam added: "Happy birthday little man! 3 already I can’t believe it. It’s amazing watching you grow and you surprise me constantly, it really seems like yesterday I was holding you for the first time, thank you for bringing life and joy to my world I hope I can do the same."
Bear was treated to a low-key birthday celebration, which was full of "lots of cake and lots of toys".
Cheryl, 36, revealed they did not host a party for the toddler because of following government instruction to self-isolate to prevent the further spread of coronavirus.
Using the "stay home" badge on her Instagram stories, the Greatest Dancer judge said they would be able to reschedule Bear's birthday festivities, only if everybody did their part and self-isolated.
"Stay home please, that's all we've got to do, it's really very simple," Cheryl pleaded with her followers.
The three-year-old spent the evening with his dad, who is competing in the Bahrain Virtual Grand Prix after putting Bear to sleep.
The former Girls Aloud singer gave birth to Bear in 2017 after the couple had been dating for a year, but then split in 2018.
It's believed Cheryl and Liam split because of their hectic careers - and Liam's burgeoning efforts as a solo artist - had come between the pair.
A source told The Sun: “Both Cheryl and Liam have successful careers that take a lot of time, which didn’t always make things easy. There were ups and downs for a long time.”
Despite their split the two singers have committed to raising Bear in a loving environment.
“But they love their son. And they do care for each other so it’s now a matter of seeing if there’s a final way forward to try and make it work,” a source said.
Before dating Liam, Cheryl was married to England and Chelsea football Ashely Cole from 2005-2010.
She then married Jean-Bernard Fernandez-Versini in 2014 after dating for only three months, but they divorced in 2016.

Liam briefly dated supermodel Naomi Campbell after breaking up with Cheryl.
He has recently rekindled his romance with model Maya Henry, 19, after The Sun revealed the couple split up in February after six months of dating.
Earlier this month, they looked loved-up as they made their first appearance since reuniting.
The pair hit the town to attend a magazine event at London's Laylow private member's club.
