STACEY Solomon sought comfort in a giant tub of ice-cream after learning that schools are closing over the coronavirus pandemic.

The mother-of-three, 30, laughed in desperation and shoved a massive spoonful of Ben & Jerry's in her mouth in response to the news.

The Loose Women star filmed herself lying on her boyfriend Joe Swash's lap on the sofa, with the tub of ice-cream in her hands.

She said to the camera: "When you find out the schools are closed until further notice," before bursting out laughing.

Stacey has three kids: a 10-month-old son Rex with Joe as well as Zach, 11, with her ex Dean Cox and Leighton, seven, with her ex-fiancee Aaron Barnhan.

As the coronavirus crisis intensifies, it's been announced that all schools will be closed from Friday "until further notice".

Settings will be “safe for the small number of otherwise vulnerable children to continue their mainstream education”.

She said on Instagram Stories today: “I’ve had so many messages asking me what I bought from the shops yesterday.

“I can assure you it wasn’t toilet roll or hand gel.”

The Loose Women star showed how she had stocked up on cat food, bars of soap, daffodils - as they made her think of “better times”- and the staple item of fake tan.

Stacey explained: “I don’t want to be on lockdown and pale.”

This comes as supermarkets are introducing widespread rationing for the first time since World War Two due to the coronavirus epidemic hitting the UK.

Sainsbury’s, Tesco and Asda today set a limit of three for any item and two for essential products, such as toilet roll and handwash.
