Denise Van Outen quits booze as she says being a ‘party girl’ in her 40s is ‘tragic’ – but now she gets called ‘boring’

DENISE Van Outen has quit drinking because she says being a "party girl" in her 40s is "tragic".

But the 45-year-old admits she gets called "boring" by her pals.

It doesn't bother the mum-of-one however, because she's too busy looking and feeling great with her healthy lifestyle.

She told Closer: "It got to the point where I just thought, 'I don't want to feel like this. I want to go into my late forties feeling fit, healthy and amazing'. So I started to make changes.

"People started to say I looked better and I felt brighter."

Denise added: "I've done the party girl thing, it's not for me any more. If I'd have carried on partying hard now into my forties it would have been quite tragic.

"The best thing is that on a night out nowadays I remember everything and I'm back in bed at a reasonable time.

"When people say to me 'you're boring', I just think 'no I feel great actually'."

Denise has been with City trader Eddie Boxshall, 45, since 2014 following her divorce from Lee Mead.

They moved in together last year and Denise has said she "couldn't be happier" as she brings up daughter Betsy with her new man.

She has recently returned to the spotlight at work too - and was a hit with The Masked Singer viewers when she was revealed as Fox.

The show sees a number of celebrities dressed in elaborate costumes, with the panel and audience left guessing at their identities.

Off the back of the ITV show, Denise is releasing an album.

She admitted she had missed performing after becoming a full-time mum in recent years.

She said on Instagram:  "As a mummy I stepped back with my singing and stage career to make sure I never missed precious moments with my daughter.

"It was a moment last summer when I was singing in the shower when Betsy my nine-year-old daughter said to me, 'Mummy, why have I never heard or seen you sing on stage?'

"That made me realise I had to get back to what I’ve always loved doing. @themaskedsinger gave me the chance to get my confidence back."
