Gogglebox stars Steph and Dom Parker admit their £5million hotel The Salutation has gone bust
GOGGLEBOX stars Steph and Dom Parker’s £5million hotel has gone bust.
The Salutation shut its doors in January, with 33 workers sent home.
The Parkers have admitted the company running the Grade I-listed manor house will be liquidated and guests’ deposits lost.
The hotel in Sandwich, Kent, was being run by John and Dorothy Fothergill who leased it from the couple.
Dom said: “We are sorry to confirm that The Salutation Hotel Ltd, which has been managing The Salutation, has indeed become insolvent.
“We are in discussions with other interested parties and we aim to have the hotel back up and running very soon, under new management.’’
Steph and Dom became Channel 4 favourites in 2013. They have owned the listed Edwin Lutyens mansion in 3.7 acres since 2004.
Last week, Dom, 55, said the couple wanted to sell it. He admitted: “We are just too old and exhausted and don’t have the energy to run it any more.”
The Salutation became a hotel in 2017 on the back of Gogglebox’s popularity. Its restaurant was run by Michelin-starred chef Shane Hughes, 43, while the gardening team won gold at the 2016 Chelsea Flower Show.
