Dancing On Ice’s Maura Higgins & Curtis Pritchard split over her closeness with hunky dance partner Alexander Demetriou
DANCING On Ice’s Maura Higgins split with Love Island co-star Curtis Pritchard over rows about her closeness with professional skater Alexander Demetriou.
Maura, 29, and Alex became increasingly tight while performing together. It sparked bust-ups between Alex, 28, and his skater wife Carlotta Edwards.
And the fallout was the final straw for Irish beauty Maura’s fragile relationship, according to sources on the ITV show.
Maura, who was eliminated from the competition last month, ended her romance with Curtis, 24, earlier this week after seven months.
It came after reports that Carlotta did not trust Maura and believed her husband had “had his head turned”.
A source said: “Maura spent hours and hours with Alex in rehearsals for weeks and they have got really close.
“They have grown very friendly and it’s not gone unnoticed with the rest of the cast and crew — or Carlotta.
“She is furious about their increasingly cosy relationship which has continued despite Maura being knocked out of the competition. There are clearly some feelings there which Maura can’t help.”
All three are expected to be at Sunday evening’s final.
Today, Maura was snapped with Alex at the Riverside ice rink in Chelmsford, Essex — a short drive from her home. Onlookers said she appeared upset and in deep conversation.
Carlotta, 30, had been competing in Dancing On Ice with magician Ben Hanlin, 33, but they were knocked out of the show on Sunday.
Blackpool-born Alex and Canadian Carlotta met while appearing in Disney on Ice, have been together for 11 years and got married in 2016.
They joined the ITV series last year when they were paired with Pussycat Dolls star Melody Thornton, 35, and ex-EastEnders actor Richard Blackwood, 47.
Maura announced her split from Curtis on Instagram on Monday night after weeks of denying they were on the rocks.

She wrote: “Curtis and I have made the decision to separate.
“We enjoyed a great experience from our time in the villa and want to thank everyone for supporting our relationship.
“There is no easy way to get through a breakup and no bad feeling on either side. We tried to make it work but it wasn’t to be and I wish Curtis nothing but the best for the future.”
