The Walking Dead show boss lifts lid of Dante’s revenge from beyond the grave after Beta’s Alexandria massacre
THE Whisperers’ infiltration of Alexandria came to a head on this week’s episode of The Walking Dead.
Viewers were horrified as Beta (Ryan Hurst) managed to break into the community via a series of underground tunnels and dig himself through the graveyard in nightmarish scenes.
He proceeded to murder around a dozen people, letting his first batch of kills turn into walkers and terrorise the streets.
His mission was simple – to bring Gamma (Thora Birch) back to Alpha (Samantha Morton) so she could make an example of her.
While Gamma was later rescued by the returning Alexandrians, Beta’s invasion was only possible thanks to groundwork put in by former Whisperer mole Dante (Juan Javier Cardenas).
Dante was the one to hollow out the grave and connect it to The Whisperers’ tunnel network, allowing them to avoid the town’s impressive defences.

Show boss Angela Kang dished the dirt on the dastardly storyline – and Dante’s belated revenge after being murdered for his crimes by Father Gabriel (Seth Gilliam).
“My writer Jim Barnes had this great idea of doing a classic horror movie in the walls of Alexandria, where Beta is stalking our people. I was like, ‘I love this idea, but how does he get in?’ So we threw out a lot of ideas,” she explained.
“I actually think it might have been that I was like, ‘You know what would be so great is, I love the idea of him coming through a grave,’ but Jim and the writers solved it and was like, ‘Yeah, if Dante created this back door because he was screwing things up for them,’” she continued.
“He killed this woman Cheryl and then he dug the grave‚ because who’s going to look in a grave?” she added to Entertainment Weekly.
“We also wanted to make sure our people didn’t look dumb either. Once they knew that Dante had been sabotaging things in Alexandria, they would have looked.”
The comments come after Daryl actor Norman Reedus revealed his fight scenes with Alpha left both of them injured.
Elsewhere, fans spotted a major clue that Magna (Nadia Hilker) and Connie (Lauren Ridloff) survived the cave collapse.
The Walking Dead airs Sunday on AMC in the US and Mondays on FOX in the UK.
