BEN Hanlin and Carlotta Edwards have been eliminated from Dancing On Ice just one week before the live final - leaving fans devastated.

The 33-year-old magician landed in the skate-off against Paralympian Libby Clegg, with pro Carlotta slipping in the nail-biting final routine.

Ben and Carlotta performed first, with the professional ice skater clearly disappointed in herself as she confessed to slipping before Libby and her partner Mark Hanretty took to the ice.

Head judge Christopher Dean later reassured the star that the slip did not impact the result, because celebrity contestant Ben didn't put a foot wrong.

However, he opted to send the pair home after the other judges failed to reach a unanimous decision.

Ashley Banjo said that he was going with his "instinct, gut, and heart" as he saved Libby and Mark, with Jayne Torvill also saving the couple.

However, John Barrowman had opted to vote for Ben and Carlotta.

Libby had previously told hosts Holly Willoughby and Phillip Schofield that she and Mark had a "surprise" up their sleeve for their skate-off routine, with the star braving the terrifying Headbanger move towards the end of the performance.

Despite Libby and Mark's shock move, some viewers were unhappy with Ben being eliminated - and flocked to social media to share their reaction.

One wrote: "Oh f**k off, Ben/Carlotta were definitely the better out of the two, f**k sake".

Another fan added: "Ben was by far the second best skater in the contest & it is extremely unfair that he’s gone home - undermarked in the show. A JOKE."

A third moaned: "You were robbed tonight, Ben. Gutted and annoyed for you. Undermarked all night when you are such a brilliant technical skater."

In addition to Libby and Mark, Joe Swash and his partner Alex Murphy, and Perri Kiely and Vanessa Bauer landed a spot in next week's final.

One of the couples will be crowned this year's Dancing On Ice champion on Sunday, with Christopher and Jayne also set to take to the ice for a very special performance in the finale.

Earlier this evening, Christopher confessed that he didn't expect TV personality Joe to be a finalist after the star moved viewers to tears with an emotional performance in memory of his late dad.
