TV presenter Rylan Clark-Neal assumed all chefs were ‘a***holes’ before taking on the iconic Ready Steady Cook show on BBC One

Rylan, 31, told The Sun: “I don’t mean to generalise, but a lot of chefs that I’ve met in the past are quite arrogant and can be quite cutting with their comments, there’s a lot of egos in the chef world.

“And I remember asking, “Is there any a***holes? Are you sure?’ and I was just as over the moon when I met the guys, and we all met first in a test kitchen and we literally walked in and said hello and that was it.”

The show, which ran for 21 series before it was axed in 2010, has been a hotbed for budding culinary talent.

Chefs James Martin, Gino D’Acampo and Antony Worral-Thompson all found fame on the show.

Rylan will be joined by chefs Mike Reid, Romy Gill, Akis Petretzikis, Ellis Barrie and Anna Haugh on the rebooted programme.
