NEW Ready Steady Cook host Rylan Clark-Neal says he assumed all chefs were “a***holes” before doing the show.
The former X Factor contestant takes over from previous hosts Ainsley Harriott and Fern Britton when the BBC1 show returns in March.
Rylan, 31, told The Sun: “I don’t mean to generalise, but a lot of chefs that I’ve met in the past are quite arrogant and can be quite cutting with their comments, there’s a lot of egos in the chef world.
“And I remember asking, “Is there any a***holes? Are you sure?’ and I was just as over the moon when I met the guys, and we all met first in a test kitchen and we literally walked in and said hello and that was it.”
The show, which ran for 21 series before it was axed in 2010, has been a hotbed for budding culinary talent.
Chefs James Martin, Gino D’Acampo and Antony Worral-Thompson all found fame on the show.
Rylan will be joined by chefs Mike Reid, Romy Gill, Akis Petretzikis, Ellis Barrie and Anna Haugh on the rebooted programme.

And they admitted to having had similar doubts about him as a former talent show star.
Anna, head chef at Myrtle restaurant in London, said: “I thought Rylan would have a massive ego and it would be attention for him and instead he gives it to us.
“He makes us look good by asking us questions.”
