American Horror Story and Chilling Adventures of Sabrina spark shared universe theory with epic witch crossover
AMERICAN Horror Story and Chilling Adventures of Sabrina have sparked a shared universe theory with an epic witch crossover.
The anthology series has featured a family of witches - the Montgomery's - in season three's Coven and again in season eight's Apocalypse.
One of the witches is called Madison Montgomery, a former actress who joins Miss Robichaux's Academy and is played by Emma Roberts.
In Chilling Adventures of Sabrina, the young witch's Spellman relatives often reference their ancestors, and on one occasion, Hilda mentioned a cousin named Montgomery who was a movie star.
If that was indeed a reference to Emma's AHS character, it wouldn't be the first shared universe for the show.
Netflix's Chilling Adventures of Sabrina is based on the Roberto Aguirre-Sacasa's comic book series of the same name and is derived from Archie Comics characters.
It serves as a sister series to the CW's Riverdale, with the two shows sharing the same creators as well as a number of cameos and references despite being on different networks.
So it's not totally implausible that American Horror Story - created by Ryan Murphy - could be another shared universe, especially considering Ryan's multi-million dollar deal with Netflix.
However, the Montgomery reference in Chilling Adventures of Sabrina could also be a nod to Elizabeth Montgomery, the actress who played Samantha on another hit witch show, Bewitched.
Meanwhile fans of the Netflix show have declared they would happily burn in hell for demon prince Caliban.
