MOIRA Barton finally accepts she’s lost Cain Dingle for good after signing the divorce papers.
The farmer’s marriage came to an abrupt end when Cain discovered she’d had an affair with his son Nate Robinson.
Emmerdale fans know that Moira recently returned to the soap to save the day as Matty found himself and the farm in danger from livestock thieves.
Moira popped up with a gun just as the thieves cornered Matty, scaring them away from the farm.
The spurned lover had been spending some time away from the village after descending into alcoholism following Cain’s rejection.
Cain had vowed their marriage was over after he discovered she'd slept with Nate - who later revealed he was Cain's son.
A humiliated and devastated Moira then turned to the bottle to drown her sorrows, alienating Cain even further.
Moira returned to the village with a new lease of life, but was dealt another blow when Cain handed her the divorce papers and asked her to sign them.
Viewers will know that Cain is set to protect Moira from the thieves in an upcoming episode.
But he panics and shoots a mystery figure approaching Moira.
In further upcoming scenes, it’s clear there’s still a gulf between Moira and Cain in the wake of the shooting.
Moira sits alone and removes her wedding ring.
