Power fans vow to boycott Tariq’s spin-off series if bosses don’t resurrect Ghost after divisive finale

POWER fans have vowed to boycott spin-off series Power Book II: Ghost if bosses don't resurrect James 'Ghost' St. Patrick after it's divisive finale.

The original series concluded earlier this week on Netflix following months of speculation about who shot the aspiring politician.

Viewers were left reeling to learn Ghost's (Omari Hardwick) son Tariq (Michael Rainey Jr) was the one who gunned him down in his nightclub Truth.

However, it was Tasha (Naturi Naughton) who was wrongly detained for the crime, meaning Tariq literally got away with murder.

And in the first teaser for the upcoming spin-off, which picks up days after the finale, fans see the return of Tasha and Tariq and their life post-Ghost.

Still reeling from her wrongful imprisonment, Tasha is seen seething behind bars in an orange jumpsuit while Tariq presumably is running to class to keep up his 3.5GPA to gain access to his trust.

Yet, fans of the Starz series have claimed that if Ghost doesn't make some kind of cameo in the spin-off even though he is now dead, they would "cancel their subscription".

Commenting underneath the trailer on YouTube, one unhappy fan wrote: "No Ghost then I'm cancelling my subscription. No Ghost, no power."

"There's no Power without Ghost, those final episodes were trash," another fan shared.

A third penned: "If the ending is going to be as disappointing as the last series don't bother." (sic)

A viewer shared: "Honestly. I don’t think Ghost is dead. Well maybe 'Ghost' is dead but not James St Patrick. I could be wrong but I think he’ll return".

"They're going to lose A LOT of fans and viewers if GHOST or TOMMY isn't on here. Because I know I'll stop watching!!!! #NOGHOSTNOVIEWERS".

However, for those fearing it won't live up to the original, executive producer Courtney Kemp told fans to expect plenty of Power elements in the spin-off.

Kemp told TV Line: "It will definitely have a lot of the same elements that you're used to from Power in terms of criminality, sex, romance, and the legal system. Every scene is still about power."

The new series comes after Power also announced another three spin-off series fronted by Tommy, Kanan and Tate.

One is called Power Book III: Raising Kanan and is a prequel to Power set in the 1990s.
