Gemma Collins ‘stormed off’ The Big Narstie Show ‘because it stank of weed’
GEMMA Collins has been accused of "storming off" the set of The Big Narstie Show when Vinnie Jones "insulted her" - when in fact, the TV star was forced to take a break because “the whole studio stank of weed”.
The Sun Online can reveal that the 39-year-old left the studio for 10 minutes after struggling with the overwhelming smell of cannabis and “madness” on set.
The Bafta-nominated channel 4 show, which is hosted by Big Narstie, 34, and Mo Gilligan, 31, descended into chaos as the rapper appeared to fall asleep mid filming – leaving Gemma and Vinnie Jones twiddling their thumbs.
A source on set revealed exclusively to The Sun Online: “Gemma was taken aback when she arrived to film the show because the whole place smelt of weed.
“She has always been very open about how much she dislikes drugs – she thinks they are the root of all evil and Arg is currently recovering in Thailand so it really wasn’t on.
“Things took a strange turn when Big Narstie fell asleep and started laughing to himself. The production team were forced to rush on to try and wake him up so filming could continue.
“At this point Gemma was completely baffled by what was going on and so while all this madness was going on she decided to go outside for some fresh air.”
The source revealed that it wasn’t just Gemma who wasn’t impressed with the way things were going and Vinnie also seemed unhappy.
They continued: “Vinnie kept saying he didn’t want to be there and was overheard asking "what the f*** the show was." He ended up walking off in the end – not Gemma.
“They are both big stars with busy lives so weren’t happy about hanging around for Big Narstie to wake up.
"At the end of the day Gemma has worked in TV for 10 years - she likes her diva image, but she's too much of a professional to storm off a set - no matter what's going on.
“There was some banter between Gemma and Vinnie but it was just playful, Gemma was laughing and told everyone afterwards how she loved meeting the movie star.
“It’s fair to say it’s a show she will never forget.”
Big Narstie has previously spoken about how he likes to be high while on TV.
In an interview with recently, he said: “I need to be high for this shit,” he says. “That’s how you get the best of me on the show.
“Do you think that five years ago it would have been acceptable for me to be smoking weed in a place like this?
“I’m the only black person who’s high on national TV. I have clocked on to the simple fact that I am now relevant enough for them to overlook me smoking weed. I am me. I refuse to be anyone else. Give God thanks. Bit of hard work, a lot of luck, I’ve landed to get to a decent stature. I’m not all the way there. I’m not the captain of the ship, but I’m on the boat, you get me?”
