Power fans baffled by Ghost and Tasha St Patrick marriage plot hole as major new murder motive surfaces
IN the run up to the season 6 finale of Power, fans have been combing through old episodes to find clues surrounding who killed James ‘Ghost’ St Patrick.
The Nightclub owner, played by Omari Hardwick, was shot dead in his own nightclub and bled out in the arms of Tommy Egan (Joseph Sikora).
In the run up to his death, Ghost had turned against his wife Tasha (Naturi Naughton) and even his son Tariq (Michael Rainey Jr).
Consumed by plans to run for Lietenant Governor in New York and pursuing a romance with Ramona Garrity, (Cynthia Addai-Robinson), Ghost was more ambitious than ever before his assassination.
However, fans have noticed that Ghost’s relationship with Tasha still represented a major obstacle to his empire.
They pointed out that as he bragged about starting a new life with Ramona, buoyed by his money as the city’s top drug dealer, he’d forgotten Tasha’s marital hold over his estate.

Reddit user Meddit29 explained: “Tasha was legally still James St Patrick's wife.
“He never signed the divorce papers. Why was he referred as her ex husband at the will reading?” they asked.
“And she has a lawsuit case against his estate because legally she was still married to him when he was killed.”
With this in mind, Tasha actually had a lot to gain from Ghost’s death, namely enough money to live in comfort and provide for her son Tariq for the rest of her life.
Tasha, Tariq and Cooper Saxe are set to be at the centre of the action in the final episode as the primary three murder suspects.
The furore comes after Omari Hardwick explained the motivations behind his romantic connection with Ramona.
“I’m not sure he really wanted to be with Angela. Be with her forever? Or is he just really wanting to win?” he told Power Confidential.
“I think Ramona was the right person for Ghost at this point because they are both obviously at crossroads.”
He claimed the pair bonded over a sense of shared pain and romantic grief.
“Ramona has experienced loss from a person hurting her, of course, like Ghost has hurt Tasha,” he went on.
“A divorce is a death. She’s experiencing a death at home, right? He’s still trying to win.
“When you give me someone who was as powerful as Ramona was made to be, that brain was what was most attractive about her.”
He concluded: “Then you realise these two are matched because they’re not ready to give up.”
Power’s writer Courtney A Kemp also gave her take on the pair.
“I think at the end of the series Ramona represents what he wants, that’s a partner. But that’s a combination of Angela and Tasha, in a way,” she said.
“That’s somebody who can get him to his next goal like Tasha could. But someone who represents a legitimate life like Angela did.”
Last month the finale episode of Power was leaked online, giving away who killed Ghost.
However, many fans were disappointed by what they saw, begging bosses to rewrite the resolution at the last minute.
Power season 6 is available to stream on Netflix now, with the finale available on February 10.
