Who is Unicorn on The Masked Singer? Famous songwriter is finally unveiled

THE Masked Singer judges were over the moon when the identity of Unicorn was finally revealed.

For weeks the flamboyant beast had been trotting around the stage, leaving everyone guessing who was under the mask.

Who is Unicorn on The Masked Singer?

Unicorn's energy and prancing had won over fans of the show.

The mythical animal opened their Masked Singer journey by belting out Kate Bush's Babooshka, showing off a great vocal range.

This was followed up by a rendition of Lizzo's Juice.

In the fifth week, Unicorn sang ZZ Top's Sharp Dressed Man - a clue to the singer's true identity.

The final song was a cover of Blur hit Girls And Boys.

Clues included writing for some big names, tap dancing and having their name in lights.

They also made reference to Glee, the fact they enjoyed performing and astonishingly, that Ozzy Osbourne had seen them naked.

During episode six, the Unicorn was finally revealed to be Jake Shears, who is no stranger to having his name in lights as a member of the group Scissor Sisters.

What were the latest fan theories?

Fans picked up on the Glee reference and went through the show's cast list to guess the identity of Unicorn.

After the first round, John Barrowman was leading the field but it soon turned to Chris Colfer and Kevin McHale from Glee.

One fan tweeted: "I think the Unicorn on MaskedSinger is the lad that was in a wheelchair in Glee. Kevin McHale? I did think it was John Barrowman but its Kevvy Kev Kev. The old Kevster. No idea why I’m watching it."

Another posted: "Watching The Masked singer form Saturday night. Unicorn has got to be Chris Colfer, let's not forget when Britney called him a Unicorn in Glee"

The name Matthew Morrison cantered into an early lead after Rita Ora also chose the singer, who also starred in Glee.

However, the Unicorn was revealed to be American singer Jake, who is no stranger to the stage.

And how does he fit in with Glee? Well one fan revealed: "Jake Shears is Unicorn. He wrote ‘Let’s Have A Kiki’ which was performed by SJP in Glee. Shears has written loads for other performers. #Unicorn #MaskedSinger."

When is The Masked Singer final?

According to ITV, the final of The Masked Singer will take place on Saturday, February 15, 2020.

Seven contestants have been eliminated from The Masked Singer so far.

Butterfly was the first to be unmasked, revealing former EastEnders actress Patsy Palmer.

Next, politician Alan Johnson was unmasked as Pharaoh made his exit.

Singer Justin Hawkins was the man behind the Chameleon mask in week three and ex-footballer Teddy Sheringham was unveiled as Tree in week four.

Daisy removed her mask in week five - only to reveal music legend Kelis.

Then in week six Jake was revealed to be Unicorn after Skin from Skunk Anansie was unveiled as Duck.
