The Walking Dead’s Eugene and Rosita’s doomed romance teased in tragic flash-forward
THE Walking Dead fans went wild last week after the latest trailer teased a romance between Eugene and Rosita.
In teaser footage from the second half of season 10, Rosita Espinosa (Christian Serratos) was seen locking lips with Eugene Porter (Josh McDermitt).
The pair previously fell out after Eugene confessed his feelings for Rosita, only for her to reject his advances and insist she’d only ever see him as a friend.
Rosita is currently in a relationship with Father Gabriel (Seth Gilliam), so no doubt many were left scratching their heads at the rogue smooch.
However, upon closer inspection, there were signs that Rosita and Eugene would end up together in The Walking Dead.
Back in season 9, episode 5 What Comes After, fans will remember how protagonist Rick Grimes (Andrew Lincoln) suffered from a series of hallucinations.

After losing a serious amount of blood, Rick found himself slipping in and out of consciousness as he attempted to flee a herd of walkers.
One sequence saw him plagued with flash-forwards that saw his loved ones dead in a mass grave.
The likes of Michonne (Danai Gurira), Daryl (Norman Reedus), Carol (Melissa McBride) and Maggie (Lauren Cohan) can be picked out among the corpses.
More interestingly though, is the fact that Eugene and Rosita are seen holding hands, even from beyond the grave.
Does this serve as proof that the pair are destined to be together, all the way until their dying moments?
Elsewhere in the trailer, Rosita’s baby Coco is seen being snatched by a mystery assailant, likely one of The Whisperers.
A looming figure sneaks into view and leans over the cot, arms extended, before the shot cuts away.
A subsequent clip sees Rosita attempting to fight someone off with a baseball bat, adding weight to the idea she’s the victim of a home invasions and kidnapping.
Rosita and Eugene share plenty of history and seeing as Rosita recently lost Siddiq, the father of her baby, she has plenty of reasons to feel vulnerable.
Considering Eugene moved to Hilltop after being rejected, any romance would be a long-distance one, unless he decided to return to Alexandria.
The Walking Dead will air on FOX in the UK on February 24 and be available to stream on NOW TV.
