Stranger Things’ Dustin actor reveals fears girlfriend Suzie will be exposed as Russian spy in season 4
STRANGER Things could introduce an unlikely when it returns later this year for season 4.
The sci-fi smash hit has proved to be one of Netflix’s most popular shows, amassing a fan base full of theories about what’s in store for their favourite characters.
Gaten Matarazzo, who plays Dustin Henderson, spoke about some of the more outlandish conspiracies at Sunday night’s SAG Awards.
Suffice to say one of them was close to home as it involved Dustin’s girlfriend Suzie, who proved to be real at the end of season 3.
Dustin and Suzie met at Camp Know Where over the summer and melted viewers’ hearts with an epic duet rendition of NeverEnding Story.
“They’re all interesting. My favourite theory is that Suzie’s actually a Russian mastermind and spy working with the Russian government,” Matarazzo said.
“I think it’s so stupid and so funny. I hope that doesn’t play out because that would be weird,” he added to Variety.
No doubt viewers would be equally crushed if Suzie were to betray Dustin, given the fledgling nature of their romance.
When grilled about his own character’s path in season 4, he continued: “It’s really hard to say because I don’t really know where the characters are going.
“He’s flapping in the wind at this point.”
Reflecting on the state of play in the season 3 finale, he reflected on how fractured the group are in the wake of Hopper’s disappearance.

“At the end of the season, all the kids are divided because everyone moves away from Hawkins - Eleven goes with Will and Joyce to go try and find some type of peace and the rest of the gang stays behind,” he went on.
“I don’t necessarily know how that’s going to work. I mean Mike and El being separated is crazy. I think fans are going to freak out.”
Is that a hint the pair will be reunited after all? We have everything crossed.
Elsewhere, Matarazzo suggested that Will Byers would be at the centre of a significant Upside Down twist.
