When does You series three come out on Netflix?

Seeing as series two dropped on Boxing Day 2019, fans would have hoped that the third series will also air around that time this year.

However, Netflix has confirmed that we are going to have to wait until 2021.

Season three will feature 10 all-new episodes, with co-creators Sera Gamble and Greg Berlanti returning as executive producers.

On November 3, 2020, actor Penn confirmed the series had started filming with a picture of his character Joe wearing a face mask with his famous catchphrase "Hello you" written on it.

What You season 3 spoilers do we know?

Naturally, the plot is being kept pretty secret for now.

Both seasons one and two were based on novels written by Caroline Kepnes, but her third book is yet to be released.

And since season two has gone on a slightly different path to the book, it's unclear which elements of the unreleased novel will be in the show.

Thanks to several interviews, we have been given a few clues about what to expect.

One convincing fan theory suggested that Joe's new neighbour might be his estranged mother.

However, Penn dismissed the idea and admitted to Bustle: "She's definitely not his mom. I can say that."

Showrunner Sera Gamble told : "The stakes are pretty high. I have so many questions about Love’s mother who’s incredibly in the picture at the end of the season, like how much she really knows about her children.

"We wrote [the finale] hoping that we will get the opportunity to tell more of the story because we’re really excited with the seeds planted at the end of season two."

While Sera also told : "I think to me, the most important thing about that last scene is just it is confirmation that Joe is still Joe in a way that's not going to be great for Joe.

"That he has not learned that he cannot just keep looking for the next person to attach his hopes and dreams to that way.

"It seems clear that he's falling into some version of that same pattern.

"I can't say that we know exactly what a season three would be, but I can say things won't go well for Joe."

She continued: "Ellie is still in Joe's life. He's sending her money. She hates him, but he is sending her money. So that door remains open for us."

Who's in the You series three cast?

Penn Badgley (who plays Joe Goldberg) and Victoria Pedretti (who plays his girlfriend Love) have been confirmed to reprise their roles.

But we can probably expect to see Love's mum (Saffron Burrows) and Love's dad (Michael Reilly Burke) at some point.

And we'll probably see Love's friends Gabe (Charlie Barnett), Sunrise (Melanie Field) and Lucy (Marielle Scott) pop up at some point.

And even though they are no longer living in the same area as Joe, both Ellie (Jenna Ortega), who is living in Florida, and Will (Robin Lord Taylor) could return for revenge or to help our favourite tortured serial killer.

Showrunner Sara teased that a few ghosts from murders past would be popping up as she said: "As you saw in season two, I mean Beck was dead and she came back.

"One of my favourite things to do is bring back a dead person to haunt you. So the door is wide open for everybody's favourite characters."

In October 2020 Netflix confirmed two new characters are joining the show for season three, and both are pretty shady.

Sharing pictures of actors Shalita Grant and Travis VanWinkle in a Twitter post, the caption read: "Fresh blood joining You Season 3: Shalita Grant will play Sherry, a "Mom-fluencer" who appears down to earth, but is actually a mean girl who only pretends to welcome Love into her social circle.

"Travis VanWinkle will play the wealthy Cary, who invites Joe into his inner circle."

How did You season two end?

The second season ended with Joe finding out his new girlfriend, Love, was also a killer.

Despite his own crimes, Joe was horrified but couldn't leave Love because she is pregnant with their baby.

Thanks to a spot of luck, Joe avoided being killed by Love's brother Forty - who was shot dead by a police officer instead.

This series of events meant that Joe was no longer seen as a suspect for the murder of a celebrity/paedophile called Henderson.

Joe and Love moved to the suburbs to prepare for their life as parents, but the episode ended with Joe beginning to fixate on his new neighbour.
