IF only Adele found loving herself as easy as writing hit songs.
But after years of self-doubt, the Someone Like You singer has finally come round to appreciate who she really is — and has shed SEVEN STONE as part of her reinvention.
Yesterday, a US holiday-maker who met her last weekend on her Caribbean break with Harry Styles and James Corden revealed how Adele was gushing about her new-found confidence.
Student Lexi Larson, 19, said: “She was saying how she had lost something like 100lb. She seemed so happy and she looked amazing. She seemed really confident.”
So who is behind Adele’s dramatic transformation?
Following her break-up last April from her husband of three years, American-born Simon Konecki, 45, her friendship group has seen a host of fresh additions from the States — namely her new BBF, wellness guru Jedidiah Jenkins.
The writer and adventurer, who was introduced to Adele by mutual friends, gave up his job when he hit 30 to spend 16 months cycling 14,000 miles down through North and South America on a journey of self-discovery.
This included reconciling his homosexuality with his conservative Christian upbringing.
Jedidiah’s 2018 book To Shake The Sleeping Self told the story of his adventure, which he has also documented on Instagram, and he has clearly had a transformative effect on Adele with his mantra of always “living life without regrets”.
He has been on a mission to boost the superstar’s inner confidence — and revealed a heart-to-heart conversation he had with her last February in which she admitted: “I’m trying to become inspired to reignite the love for myself which is definitely there,” before asking: “How do I better myself?”
Happily, it seems Jedidiah had the answers.
The pair have become super-close friends and Adele flew him to the UK to watch her favourite band the Spice Girls close their reunion tour at Wembley last June.
The pair were joined at the gig by a number of her pals from London.
They have also been pictured at parties in Los Angeles, including a Halloween fancy dress bash where Adele dressed up in a Captain Hook-inspired outfit that included a giant-brimmed scarlet hat.
Adele supported Jedidiah at a recent reveal for his upcoming book, The Seven Subjects, which, “explores the seven topics we must think about in order to live a deeply considered life — ego, family, work, love, nature, death, and the soul”.
Gushing about Adele in an Instagram story to mark her 31st birthday last May, he wrote: “I’m inspired by you, I’m changed by your bravery and strength, 31 will be your best year yet.”
Inspired by Jedidiah, Adele went on her own US road trip last summer, joined by him and other pals, and posed snaps from remote country outposts in states including Idaho and Arizona.
Taking her cue from Jedidiah’s positivity, she has developed the self-belief to form close relationships with a growing number of North American stars, including A-list US actress Jennifer Lawrence and Canadian hip-hop superstar Drake.
Last October she was snapped at Drake’s 33rd birthday party in Hollywood, showing off her new slimline figure in an off-the-shoulder black velvet gown.
Mixing with such A-list company shows just how comfortable Adele now feels among the Hollywood elite — a golden circle that she previously dreaded.
Last year she was also pictured chatting with Michelle Obama during a London stop on the former US First Lady’s book tour.
Adele is worth £150MILLION thanks to her three record-breaking albums, 2008’s 19, 2011’s 21 and 2015’s 25, as well as sell-out tours.
The albums have racked up total sales of 120million — and second collection 21, featuring tracks Rolling In The Deep and Rumour Has It, is the longest-running No1 album by a female solo artist in the history of the UK and US charts.
Her wealth also continues to grow without playing a note. She earned £10million in royalties last year.
But in 2011, when discussing attending the star-studded MTV Video Music Awards in LA, the girl born into a council flat in Tottenham, North London, said: “I felt out of place and I’d rather be at home with my girlfriends.”
She also said how she would rather “drink cider in Brockwell Park” with her pals. Her integration into the celebrity set in LA has been helped by Ayda Field, wife of Robbie Williams.
The pair grew close when Adele moved to the US after she and ex Simon had their son Angelo, now seven, and it was the former X Factor judge who introduced her to exercise — triggering her lifestyle overhaul.
Speaking to The Sun this week, Brazilian Pilates trainer Camila Goodis, 36, told how she trained Adele and Ayda at Robbie’s house, despite the fact Adele, “hated exercise”.
She believes Adele’s dramatic weight loss was down to, “90 per cent dieting”, saying: “If you eat a healthy, balanced diet, eat less calories a day and expend more energy, your deficit will be none.
“Giving up processed food, sugar, soda and getting into an exercise routine, like cardio and strength-training, will change people’s body.”
Cutting out the bad food from her diet has been relatively easy for Adele because she does not like fast food, especially burgers and kebabs, and has always felt guilty about eating meat.
She once said: “Every time I eat meat, I see my little dog’s eyes.”
Adele’s health kick is another indication she is set to return with some new music later this year.
She previously tried to turn vegetarian to prepare for a big year in 2012 when she released the theme tune for James Bond film Skyfall.
We revealed in September that Adele had written and recorded new material for the follow-up to her last album, 25.
A new song, believed to be a more up-tempo track, was sent out for assessment in “taster sessions” to give her record bosses an idea if it should appear on the album.
She has not released any music or played a live set since cancelling gigs at Wembley in July 2017 after damaging her vocal cords.
Indeed, the only music she has performed has been at karaoke bars in the US with her famous pals — including at a New York gay bar with J-Law, and rapping to a Nicki Minaj song at a birthday party for another new LA friend, fashion designer Ty Hunter.
Music sources claim, aside from the a new album, Adele is desperate to record another movie soundtrack — especially a future Disney release.
But the focus will be very much on the fourth album, which is likely to reflect her split from Konecki — but not as much as fans may assume.
There is an increasing belief that her new material will mirror her positive outlook on life, and her inner confidence.
Adele has always compared writing songs to therapy and some of her best tracks, including Someone Like You, were written about an ex-boyfriend who broke her heart.
Industry sources predict her next record will subtly deal with the Konecki break-up because Adele remains amicable with her former husband, sharing with him custody of son Angelo.
She started dating Simon in 2011 and they married in 2016.

Last May Adele splashed out £8.5million on a five-bedroom Beverly Hills mansion next to Konecki’s home, which she gifted him, so their son can have easy access to his parents.
Eton-educated Konecki, co-founder of ethical bottled water company Life, could have been entitled to half of Adele’s £140million fortune because it is believed he did not sign a pre-nup before they got hitched.
Adele conquered the music world before. Now she is happy, content and confident there will be no stopping her.
