Ex-Today star Matt Lauer and new girlfriend Shamin Abas ride bikes in New Zealand near his $9M estate
FORMER Today Show anchor Matt Lauer was spotted vacationing in New Zealand over the holidays with his new girlfriend Shamin Abas.
According to Radar Online, the couple flew out of New Jersey earlier this month, and onlookers could not help but notice her resemblance to Matt's ex wife, Annette Roque.
Sources said: “Some people thought it was Annette.”
Since then they've been enjoying Matt's $9 million lakefront New Zealand farm, called Hunter Valley Station.
They've been seen taking romantic bike rides and even making stops into the local towns.
Apparently the duo have known each other for more than a decade and first got together in 2005.
An insider told In Touch: “Obviously, one thing led to another, and they’re a full-fledged item now.”
Their new relationship follows Annette multimillion-dollar settlement from divorcing Matt after he was fired from Today in 2017 amid sexual misconduct allegations.
The two were married for more than 20 years and have three children together, Jack, 18, Romy, 16, and Thijs, 13.
But even as other members of the media turned their back on their former colleague following his sexual misconduct allegations, insiders say Shamin, a PR executive, has stood by Matt.
In October another NBC News employee came out against Matt.
Brooke Nevils accused him of raping her in 2014 in his hotel room at the Sochi Olympics.
Matt has denied this claim calling it: “categorically false, ignores the facts, and defies common sense.”

He described his time with Nevils as an “extramarital affair.”
But sources say Shamin feels she knows the real Matt: “She knows who he is.
“She’s thrilled she’s with him. She doesn’t seem to have a care in the world.”
