Game of Thrones’ Alfie Allen reveals behind-the-scenes gym rivalry with Kit Harington and Richard Madden
GAME of Thrones’ Alfie Allen has revealed his behind-the-scenes gym rivalry with Kit Harington and Richard Madden to see who could achieve the best six pack.
The 33-year-old actor played Theon Greyjoy in the hit HBO series from its first series in 2011 until the eighth and final season which aired earlier this year.
During that time, Alfie formed a bond with his co-stars, and the three men engaged in some healthy competition at the gym.
Speaking to The Guardian, Alfie revealed: “At the beginning, me, Kit Harington and Richard Madden were definitely in some sort of competition about who could be in the best shape.
“It’s not like we were comparing, but there was definitely a macho vibe going around.
“But I wouldn’t say there was competition in any sense other than who has the best six-pack, and Kit will always win that.”
Kit, 33, played Jon Snow in the show, while Richard starred as Robb Stark in the first three seasons before he was brutally killed off during the famous Red Wedding scenes.
The final series of Game of Thrones proved divisive for fans as did it’s controversial ending.
But Alfie said ending such a cult show perfectly was never going to be achievable.
He said: “People were just massively emotionally invested in it, and that’s testament to how great the show is.
“Things ended in a similar fashion with Breaking Bad and The Sopranos.
“There’s never a good ending and I think [the show’s writers] David Benioff and DB Weiss had a huge amount of pressure on them.”
