Kate Garraway given FIVE alarm clocks after oversleeping and missing first day back on Good Morning Britain
KATE Garraway was mocked by her Good Morning Britain team who surrounded her with five alarm clocks after she overslept and missed the show yesterday.
The 52-year-old, who has spent the past month in the I’m A Celeb jungle, failed to turn up for work on Thursday after sleeping through her alarm, forcing Ranvir Singh to step in and replace her.
And the ITV team weren’t prepared to let her off lightly as they cluttered the desk with alarm clocks this morning.
Co-host Ben Shephard joked: “It’s so lovely that you bothered getting up this morning!”
Kate apologised saying: “I’m sorry about yesterday!
“It wasn’t that I couldn’t be bothered to get up… I famously have six alarm clocks at home.
“What happened is, Billy wasn’t well so I put him to bed. I fell asleep fully dressed with my boots on still, still had my make-up on.
“I woke up at 5.40. I’m so sorry because I was so excited about coming back!”
The ITV stars later joked Kate was absent from the GMB Christmas card after missing the show.
They swapped the presenter with her last minute replacement Ranvir on the card and mocked up one version to show her slumped on the desk asleep.
Kate appeared flustered as she accidently missed her comeback yesterday.
Posting a stunned selfie on Instagram, she wrote: “Oh no – disaster – overslept on my 1st morning back at work on @gmb .
“Fell asleep last night fully made up with clothes on and contacts in – didn’t set alarm.
“Woke up looking like this !!!??!!! Can’t believe it – am going to get fired first morning back!
And to think @adeleroberts & @romankemp we were talking about this in the jungle and I was proudly saying I had never overslept enough in 20 years to actually miss a show !!!! That’s karma !!!!”
