Strictly champ Kelvin Fletcher admits he feels guilty for leaving wife and kids at home to compete on BBC show

STRICTLY Come Dancing champion Kelvin Fletcher has admitted he feels guilty for leaving his wife and children to compete in the dance show.

The 35-year-old is now planning a holiday to celebrate his belated wedding anniversary with Elizabeth and to spend some quality time with his family.

He said: “I’m going on holiday next week with my family to get away for a few days.

“I’ve felt a little bit guilty being away from them so I will take them away and just see them and hold them.”

The former Emmerdale actor’s Manchester-based wife was in the London audience on Saturday night when he danced to victory alongside his pro partner Oti Mabuse.

The couple married in 2015 and are parents to Marnie, three, and Milo, one.

Meanwhile despite his victory, Kelvin has said he is hanging up his dancing shoes to concentrate on getting more acting work.

The star — a regular at the Woolpack pub during his 20 years as farmer Andy Sugden on the ITV soap Emmerdale — said: “I’ve loved the dancing but drama and film is what I want to do.

“The West End is fantastic but for me TV drama is where I want to be.

"Hopefully Strictly has given people the opportunity to see me in a different light.”

Kelvin, a last-minute replacement for injured reality star Jamie Laing, 31, is contracted to take part in the 33-date live Strictly tour which starts in January.

But he said: “I feel confident now to go back into the acting world and see what happens. It’s been a pleasure to be on the show.

"It was the most unique experience but now I need to rest.”
