Teen Mom star MacKenzie McKee’s mother Angie Douthit dies after cancer battle
TEEN Mom Star Mackenzie McKee's mother has passed away after battling cancer for two years.
MacKenzie's family shared the news through the mom's social media platforms with a picture of her crossing the finish line of the Diva Dash.
They wrote: "There were times when she wrote her posts through pain and confusion."
"There were times at the end when she couldn’t type and would ask her daughters to type for her but she would not give up spreading the gospel message of hope."
"In nearly two years, she never missed her daily post...tomorrow she will."
Angie had been documenting her battle with the disease on Instagram before her death.
She wrote in one post: "Today was a little rough. Scans showed results that were not good. The cancer has grown in the liver and in the brain. There is also some hemorrhaging in the brain. I will have two more doses of radiation and that will be the last treatment I will be given.”
The former school teacher, who was diagnosed with the illness nearly two years ago, told how she would be returning home in the coming days and has arranged for hospice staff to visit her for extra support.
She remained optimistic and believed her current situation could be the "darkness" before things take a positive turn.
“I’m not sure what to say… other than How God told me early in my diagnosis that He would heal me but I would have a long dark journey to take,” she said.
“I’m starting to think this is what He meant by long dark journey. So please pray for me that I will be strong and be able to stop vomiting. Also please pray that I will be a mighty warrior for Christ. I love every one of you. I thank you so much for your prayers.”
Her daughter Mackenzie, 25, posted on her own Instagram account how things weren't "looking good at all."
She said: “I don’t want to go into details because I can’t hold it together to get through these details but it is not looking good.
“I’m hoping she can be here for Christmas.”

The family has been open with its fan base through the course of the illness, with Angie saying in August she'd been told she had six months to live and was hoping for a miracle.
She said: “I wanted to tell you I was better. But they told me that it’s in both femurs; it’s in my breast bone; it’s in my hip bones; this backbone that’s attached to your hip bone, it’s back there; it’s half of my liver.
"It’s in the lymph nodes of my colon and the lymph nodes in my lungs. I have another tumor in my head.”
“Like I always say: the bigger the cancer, the bigger the miracle. And God can do whatever He wants.”
Mackenzie and husband Josh have three children Gannon, seven, Jaxie Taylor, five, and Broncs Weston, three.
Angie previously said she was worried they wouldn't remember her and heartrendingly said she hoped they would be told about her.
