LEWIS Capaldi revealed he auditioned for Britain's Got Talent - but didn't make it past the first stage.
The Scottish hitmaker said the producers confirmed they would bring him through to the next round, but he never received another phone call.
Speaking to Heart Breakfast's Jamie Theakston and Amanda Holden, the superstar said: "Amanda, I went on Britain’s Got Talent and I went to the auditions.
"I went up and I sang White Blank Page by Mumford & Sons and I went on and they said to me Amanda, ‘Oh Lewis that was so great, that was lovely, we loved that'.
"And I said, ‘thank you so much for saying that’. And then I got a phone call saying, ‘Lewis that was great we’re going to put you through, and we’re going to try and hurry it through.’
"Then I never received another phone call again."
Amanda was shocked to hear the news, saying: "Oh em gee, we turned down Lewis Capaldi."
The singer joked: "What they actually said to me, they said to me 'Amanda Holden saw your audition tape and she hates you, on a molecular level she despises you'."
Amanda Holden has been a judge on Britain's Got Talent since the first season, alongside Simon Cowell.
The judges missed out on one of the biggest superstars in music at the moment.
Lewis' debut album, Divinely Uninspired to a Hellish Extent, remained top of the UK Albums Chart for six weeks since its release on May 17, 2019.
His hit single, Someone You Loved - released in March 2019 - remained at number one for seven weeks. In October 2019, it reached number one on the US Billboard Hot 100.
The Sun revealed how the single was based on Lewis' ex-girlfriend Paige Turley - who was a former Britain's Got Talent contestant.
The singer fell in love with Paige after they hooked up at college in Motherwell.
He then penned the single after their split. The pair dated for around a year.
A source told us: "She’s the girl. The song and his album is clearly inspired by love and he loved her — he really did.
"Paige dated Lewis while they were both at college from around 2014 to 2016. They were on and off and together just over a year. It’s funny that his songs now mean so much to so many. But the real story behind it is boy meets girl.
"She must be thrilled she helped inspire such beautiful music."
Paige appeared on Britain's Got Talent in 2012 - when she was just 14-years-old.
She sang Bon Iver's Skinny Love in the audition and got through to the semi-final.
Meanwhile, Amanda Holden has waded into This Morning's civil war after she praised Ruth Langsford for "sticking up for herself".
The host made a formal complaint against Phillip and also didn't invite the presenter to Eamonn Holmes' 60th birthday party.

Amanda said on her radio show: "Jamie, listen, I have drawn a line... all I will say is I admire anyone who sticks up for themselves as it's not an easy thing to do.
"There is a tin opener and a can somewhere, and other people have found the opener."
In 2018 it was revealed that the Britain’s Got Talent judge, 48, believed Schofield, 57, was behind her missing out on the coveted role after Holly Willoughby was drafted in to cover I'm A Celebrity.
