EMMERDALE fans have been left overjoyed as ITV has aired the now iconic 1993 plane crash disaster episode.
ITV3 has been airing old episodes of the soap drama and today's was the one everyone had been waiting to watch again, as the burning jet crashed in the dales, leaving many residents dead.
The storyline firmly set the soap as a major contender against Coronation Street and EastEnders, after falling viewer figures saw it at risk of being axed.
Four characters were killed off in the gripping New Year's Eve episode which hit screens on December 31 1993.
The scene gave the soap its highest-ever viewing figures, as 18 million people tuned in to watch the mayhem unfold.
As Beckindale lay in ruin, four characters perished: Mark Hughes, Elizabeth Pollard, Archie Brooks and Leonard Kempinski.
Claire King - who played Kim Tate - took to Twitter to share the news, writing: "Today’s ITV3 action on Emmerdale."
Many viewers, however, couldn't over how dated the episode was now.
One fan tweeted: "Just watched the 1993 plane crash episode of Emmerdale. The pyrotechnics have dated like Trump's bouffant."
Others were over the moon to see a piece of classic British TV again.
