Born Joseph Frank Pesci on February 9, 1943, Joe, 76, is an American actor.
He is best known for portraying tough, volatile characters in a variety of genres and for his collaborations with Robert De Niro and Martin Scorsese in the films Raging Bull (1980), Goodfellas (1990), Casino (1995) and The Irishman (2019).
In 1991 Joe won the Academy Award for Best Supporting Actor for his role as the psychopathic gangster Tommy DeVito (based on Thomas DeSimone) in Goodfellas.
Joe announced his retirement from acting in 1999, and since then he has appeared only occasionally in films.

Joe made his grand return to the big screen in November 2019 in Martin Scorsese’s gangster epic The Irishman.
The Netflix film is based on the story of Frank Sheeran, the mob-associated hitman who claimed to have killed union leader Jimmy Hoffa.
Joe plays Russell Bufalino, the local mafioso who first brings Sheeran into the underworld and who eventually orders Hoffa’s murder.
Despite being the boss of a small crime family, Bufalino was a significant influence in the national Cosa Nostra criminal society.
