What was Taylor Swift AMAs row about?

Taylor begged fans for help after revealing she may not perform at the AMAs after Scooter Braun and Scott Borchetta reportedly BANNED her from singing her own songs.

In her statement, Taylor said that Scott told her team they would be allowed to use her music only if she agreed to not re-record copycat versions of her songs next year — “which is something I’m both legally allowed to do and looking forward to,” she added.

Taylor claimed: “The message being sent to me is very clear. Basically, be a good little girl and shut up. Or you’ll be punished.”

Taylor called on her fans to help her, and signed off her post by saying: “I love you guys and I thought you should know what’s been going on.”

Many celebrities and important figures came out to show their support for the pop superstar, while her fans got to work making it clear that they demanded for the situation to be resolved.

And a few days later, it was confirmed by Big Machine Records that a deal had been reached to allow Taylor's songs and performance to distributed after the performance.

How did the feud between Taylor Swift and Big Machine Records start?

In the words of Taylor Swift - are you ready for for it?... right here we go:

Taylor signed to Scott's Big Machine Records when she first started in the music industry

However in June 2019 the singer revealed her devastation that the label had been sold by Scott to Scooter Braun for a reported $300 million (£233 million) through his company, Ithaca Holdings, and thus received majority ownership of her master recordings.

The singer then accused Scooter of bullying her over the years, a claim that Scott and others fought back against.

Then in July 2019, Taylor’s lawyer denied she was given an opportunity to buy back her masters from Big Machine Label Group, as Scott has claimed.

Things then escalated in November 2019 when Taylor called out Scooter and Scott for trying to ban her performance.
