Jim Broadbent is a British actor, who has had a wide range of roles over the years and received an Academy Award for his performance in the 2001 movie Iris.
Both in Lincolnshire, England on May 24, 1949, Jim was destined for show business, having been brought by parents who both took a keen interest in performing arts.
His mother and father were founding members of the Lindsey Rural Player, an amateur theatre group in Lincolnshire.
The 70-year-old was educated at the London Academy of Music and Dramatic Art, before beginning his career in theatre after he graduated in 1972.
His big break came when he starred in Ken Campbell’s Illuminatus, a 12-hour science-fiction production, which he played a dozen roles in.

Is Jim Broadbent married?
Yes, the Academy-award winning actor has been married to painter and former theatre designer Anastasia Lewis since 1987.
The couple met in 1983 and he is stepfather to her two grown-up sons, Tom and Paul.
They reportedly split their time between their North London house and a cottage in Lincolnshire, which is near the Methodist chapel that his father Roy helped to turn into a theatre.
