EASTENDERS fans are in shock after Mel Owen was run over by a lorry after Sharon Mitchell saved her from dying in a car fire like ex Steve Owen.
The businesswoman - who is played by actor Tamzin Outhwaite in the BBC soap - was killed by a lorry after hearing voices of her dead son Hunter and trying to get to him.
She had been involved in a car crash after racing Sharon to get to Phil to expose Keanu being the father of Sharon's baby.
And she survived the initial crash with the help of Sharon.
Heavily pregnant Sharon dragged Mel from the car wreck when it became clear she couldn't save herself.
Afterwards Mel demanded to know why Sharon had saved her, asking: "Why did you do it? He was there. I could see his eyes, I could feel his breath. Why didn't you leave me?
But as Sharon begged Mel to end it, Mel was hearing Hunter's voice and despite Sharon's pleas walked into the road towards the burning car.
In a moment that left fans horrified a speeding lorry appeared and knocked Mel over killing her instantly.
Covered in blood and cuts from trying to save Mel, Sharon called Phil to tell him she wouldn't be at meeting him at the airport.
She said: "I know I said I'd be there but there's been an accident."
Phil went to pick Sharon up to take her home but when they got in Lisa arrived and wasted no time in accusing Sharon of murdering Mel.
She said: "Is that Mel's blood on your hands? Mel followed you to the airport to tell Phil, didn't she? It was the only way for you to shut her up.
"You killed her. Because that baby isn't yours and that's why Mel's dead."
Sharon exploded in a rage and demanded Lisa get out of the house before storming upstairs.

However she didn't go before telling Phil: "I'm telling the truth Phil, Mel found out and that's why she's dead."
But with Lisa's mental health issues fans think Sharon will use them to convince Phil that Lisa is having another episode to keep her own secret.
Tonight's episode was too much for fans with one saying: "Oh Mel, that was one hell of an exit #EastEnders."
A second said: "EastEnders tonight was way too emotional."
Another added: "Actually gutted they've killed off Mel."
