HOLLYOAKS fans have been left wondering who shot Mercedes McQueen after scenes of the brunette collapsing in the middle of The Loft's dance floor aired.
The Hollyoaks scarlet has more foes in the village but most viewers suspect Liam Donovan. Here's everything we need to know about the seven official suspects...

Who shot Mercedes McQueen in Hollyoaks?
Diane Hutchinson
First up is Diane who was furious to discover that Mercedes framed her step-son Harry Thompson as the driver during Grace's hit-and-run.
The revelation came during Harry's funeral when Grace played the recording of Mercedes confessing her crime aloud.
In the tape, Mercedes also threatened to kill Harry, who was murdered earlier this year.
This makes Mercedes a prime suspect in Harry’s murder and Dianne is likely to want revenge.

James Nightingale
James has been on the warpath since his lover Harry's death.
Certain that Mercedes killed his boyfriend, he will also be desperate to make Mercedes pay.

She was devastated to learn that Grace was behind the hit-and-run on last night's episode: “You left me in the gutter to die”, she said.

Liam Donovan
The heat is also on Liam as police search for suspects who may have gunned Mercedes in the coming weeks.
Liam is brought in for questioning, as the police confirm that his gun is a match for the one that hit Mercedes.
Also, a flashback revealed on November 8 of him standing over her body has put him at the front of the suspect list.

All of the suspects have clear motives but which of them would actually try and kill the mother-of-three?
It remains to be seen who shot Mercedes, however, Jennifer has her thoughts on who might want her character dead.
“The reason why people might want Mercedes dead is because she’s done a lot of wrong things to a lot of people,” she began.
“For example: Grace – Mercedes did do the hit and run and Grace has just found out, so she is going to be after her, especially after putting her in a wheelchair; James – he’s after her because he actually thinks that she did kill Harry, so he’s on her case; Sylver – because she’s had an affair and kept the hit and run away from him.”
She added: “There’s loads of reasons why people want her shot and pretty much everyone’s got a good reason why they want to shoot her!”

Is Mercedes McQueen in Hollyoaks dead?
Jennifer has ruled out her character being killed off the Channel 4 soap and insisted “she can’t die”.
She said: “No! Mercedes is never going to die, she can’t die.
“I don’t think it’s possible, she’ll be the first person to live forever I think, I think she’s immortal, absolutely.”

Though it remains to be seen who shot Mercedes, soap fans have their thoughts on who might want her character dead.
