The Walking Dead Beta actor Ryan Hurst promises fans ‘very bloody’ clash with Negan
THE Walking Dead is set to pit two of its toughest characters against each other.
The apocalyptic drama, currently in its tenth season, has already seen femme fatales Carol and Alpha clash over territory.
Now it looks like two other major bruisers are about to butt heads – Negan and Beta.
The pair have both spilled their fair share of blood over the years and Beta actor Ryan Hurst assured fans that their meeting would be a memorable one.
“Beta and Negan (played by Dean Morgan), they couldn't be more diametrically opposite than anything,” he explained.
“It's this stone-faced, immovable person and then you have his mouthpiece who just will not shut up,” he continued to Insider.
Hurst stressed that the interaction was multi-faceted, with a juxtaposition of gore and humour.
"The first episode that you see Beta and Negan together is one of the funniest episodes of Walking Dead that you've ever seen,” he went on.
"It's still very bloody, still very Walking Dead, but there's more levity in that episode than in any other I've ever seen of the show.”
Still, clearly the first meet isn’t going to be a fight to the death, as Hurst revealed they’d already shot several scenes and had even more lined up.
The new rivalry is being relished by the actors, who happen to be good pals in real life.
"We've shot a bunch, some of it's still left to be shot. But, you know, I love the show too. I've been looking forward to this,” Hurst concluded.
"Jeff and I have been great friends for a long time. So the fact that we get to share the screen together is an enormous joy."
Earlier in the week Hurst revealed that his heavy mask and leather jacket left him hospitalised with heat exhaustion during filming.
Elsewhere, Alpha was left reeling after unmasking Beta in a flashback sequence and realising that she recognised him.
The Walking Dead airs Mondays on FOX in the UK and is available to stream in the UK.
