EMMERDALE fans have been left disappointed by Ellis Champan's "swift exit" which aired last night – one month after actor Asan N’Jie was sacked.
The 25-year-old was sensationally axed from the ITV soap last month after he threatened Hollyoaks' star Jamie Lomas at the TV Choice Awards.
In scenes which aired last night it was revealed that Ellis had gone to visit his mum Jessie Grant, who has also recently left the soap.
Fans had thought he might die after he injured his arm while carrying out work for his dad, but Billy told Dawn and his Al that he had in fact gone to Dubai.
Billy told Al: "Don't freak out but he's got another job. I don't think you could compete with Dubai."
In the second episode, Billy gave more details as he told Dawn: "Al has been working him into the ground, it's making him ill.
"So I called mum...she rang with a job. It might only be a couple of months, maybe less, but at least he's getting away from [Al]."
Those watching at home were hoping for more from his departure and took to Twitter to comment on it.
One person wrote: “Can I just talk about the random exit scene of Ellis. Poor dude man. I’m convinced they were planning a sepsis storyline. They made a massive deal of those dirty nails he caught his arm on. So long Ellis - enjoy working with Mama! #Emmerdale.”
Another added: "Swift exit for Ellis any news on if they’re recasting him or is that him gone? #Emmerdale."
While someone else tweeted: "Award for lamest storyline to write out a sacked actor goes to..... #emmerdale Ellis suddenly off to Dubai?!! Hilarious."
Last month a clip emerged showing Asan screaming: "Do you think you are a f***ing big man? I'm going to f***ing kill you" at Jamie Lomas.
According to the Mirror, he then added under his breath: "I’m going to f***ing knife you."
Asan was escorted off the premises by security staff and was axed from his role after an emergency meeting with show bosses.
The star was set to "get down on his hands and knees" to plead for a second chance but the execs saw no other option but to terminate his contract.
The Sun previously revealed that the two men fell out over money, with one of Asan's pals in a financial dispute with Jamie - his former agent.
An insider explained: "Jamie had guided this young lad's career and was responsible for him landing a gig in Emmerdale.
"However since then, he has decided he wants to leave Jamie's agency, which Jamie is fine with, but he wants the commission he is owed.

"He is entitled to this money but it's currently the subject of a private and personal dispute."
Following the incident Asan issued a grovelling apology, saying in a statement: "My behaviour at the TV Choice Awards was completely unacceptable and very much out of character.
"I sincerely apologise to everybody who has been affected especially Jamie Lomas, the whole Emmerdale team, our audience, ITV, my family, and the organisers of the TV Choice Awards.
"I am devastated, accept full responsibility for my actions and I am determined to learn from this."
