Taking the Mick

EastEnders spoilers: Mick Carter’s mental health storyline explained as he continues to hide the truth from Linda

MICK Carter’s mental health storyline is set to be revisited in EastEnders tomorrow as last night he headed off to the GP without telling wife, Linda.

The blonde landlady was shocked when she returned to the Vic and spotted Mitch Baker behind the bar instead of Mick.

When she asked him what was going on, Mitch reluctantly told her that Mick had gone to the doctor leaving her concerned.

But what exactly is wrong with Mick? Here’s the tea…

What’s wrong with Mick Carter in EastEnders?

Mick has been suffering from panic attacks since earlier this year. Feeling the stress of running the pub and struggling with news that son Ollie could be on the autistic spectrum, Mick collapsed while he was refereeing a kids’ football match.

Fearing he was having a heart attack, Mick went to hospital, but left before seeing anyone.

Later, he collapsed in the pub and it was frenemy Stuart Highway who was forced to talk him through his breathing.

Mick had kept the truth hidden from Linda and she had health concerns of her own after her smear test results came back abnormal.

The Sun Online exclusively revealed back in July that Mick was set to face some mental health issues as the BBC One soap continues to raise awareness of several conditions.

Danny Dyer hinted at his new storyline to The Sun Online revealing there is "powerful stuff" on the way for the Carters involving Ollie.

Viewers know their young son Ollie will soon be diagnosed with autism, and the show hasn't shied away from showing the reality of the family's journey working with charities in order to make sure the story is accurate.

He said: "It’s been quite slow integrating me back into the show since I come back.

"I’ve got some really powerful stuff coming up with Kellie [Bright] and stuff I can’t talk about at the moment but it’s good.

"Mick is going to go through some really [big] mental health issues, that’s all I can say."

He also gushed about EastEnders boss Kate Oates who was recently promoted to oversee all of the BBC's soap offerings.
