Emmerdale’s Asan Njie enjoys romantic break in Amsterdam with girlfriend Lauren Griffin after vowing to get back to work
EMMERDALE’S Asan Njie has jetted off to Amsterdam for a romantic break with girlfriend Lauren Griffin after vowing to get back to work.
The 25-year-old has kept a low profile since he was caught on camera threatening to "knife and kill" Hollyoaks star Jamie Lomas at the TV Choice Awards.
But he put the drama behind him to enjoy a trip with his long-term girlfriend in the Netherlands.
The couple, who have been dating since they were 16, have treated themselves to some slap up meals in the city, which they have been sharing with fans online.
They even set their pulses racing by going on a swing on the sky deck at A’dam Lookout – 100 metres off the ground.
Their holiday comes after Asan vowed "finish what he started" and make a comeback after he was sacked for his row with Jamie.
Returning to social media for the first time since the explosive fight, Asan posted a headshot of himself staring directly at the camera with a huge grin.
He captioned it: "All the people who’ve reached out and had my back you’ll never know how much I appreciate you.
"I’ve learned, I’ve grown and now I’m working harder than ever to finish what I started. Keep you’re circle tight and always fall forward!
"The universe tends to unfold as it should."
Asan, joined the ITV soap as Ellis Chapman last year, became embroiled in a row with Jamie after the ceremony at London's Hilton Park Lane hotel.
The dispute, which is said to involve money, is believed to have been started by Asan - who was heard goading Jamie.
As the atmosphere turned toxic, the young star had to be restrained and could be heard shouting: “Do you think you are a f***ing big man, I’m going to f***ing kill you.”
He also shouted: “I’m going to f***ing knife you.”
In the aftermath of the bust-up, Asan issued a grovelling apology.
He said in a statement: “My behaviour at the TV Choice Awards was completely unacceptable and very much out of character.
“I sincerely apologise to everybody who has been affected especially Jamie Lomas, the whole Emmerdale team, our audience, ITV, my family, and the organisers of the TV Choice Awards.
“I am devastated, accept full responsibility for my actions and I am determined to learn from this.”
