Furious Amanda Holden denies she’s a ‘princess’ after tiling firm accuse her of using ‘celeb status’ to get special treatment
FURIOUS Amanda Holden slammed a tile company on social media after they accused her of using her "celebrity" status to get "special treatment".
The Heart Breakfast host, 48, received the wrong tiles from Appleby's tiles and spoke with a representative called Jack in order to sort the issue.
Amanda explained she hired tilers she would still have to pay, so would be out of pocket because of their mistake.
In exchange, she asked for the tiles for free as compensation - but they refused.
They wrote to her: "Unfortunately that is not how it works. We will not be refunding your order however, we can refund your shipping fees.
"Unfortunately we do not make exceptions for "celebrity" status and all of our customers are treated the same as per our terms and conditions.
"We will happily refund you your shipping for the inconvenience."
The Britain's Got Talent judge was so furious she posted on both Twitter and Instagram.
She included a screenshot of the conversation and wrote on Twitter: "Well. What a useless company. Dont usually name & shame but this reply wound me up!!
I'm no [princess emoji] & hate the word celebrity-didn't ask for special anything BUT the order is under my name. I don't expect any special service. JUST a SERVICE would be good."
On Instagram, she expands on the feud, saying: "I'm so cross that applebys-tiles.co.uk seem to have no proper customer service.
"Firstly The order was under my name. We didn't ask for a special service... Secondly, the company have admitted it was their mistake. Is this saying I have to pay for tiles that are wrong?
"How is this legal? If they've admitted the error. And thirdly 'Jack' needs to learn some people skills and have a glance at the Oxford English dictionary... if there is another tiling company that would be equally willing to big them up. As I frequently do with small British business."
In the extra screenshots published on Instagram, it shows the company admitted to human error as they "send out 400 orders a week so mistakes can happen".
They also "advise waiting until tiles are received and checked before employing Tilers."
