TEEN TERROR

The Walking Dead’s new spin-off gets first trailer ahead of spring release – with group of teens abandoning safe haven for life in zombie wasteland

THE Walking Dead universe will be welcoming another spin-off series in spring 2020.

Amping up the hype, the currently untitled series released its first full-length trailer, offering insight into the characters and story lines viewers can expect.

The clip premiered at New York Comic Con ahead of the announcement that Amazon Prime had secured rights to the show, in the wake of bagging first spin-off Fear the Walking Dead.

The new footage introduced a group of teens born into the zombie apocalypse, who had been raised in an isolated community for their safety.

However, clearly feeling stifled by the strict rules of the system, they decide to set out on an adventure of gruesome proportions.

One moment shows a character vomiting after coming face to face with a rotting walker.

In another, the group look on in horror as one unfortunate zombie gets caught up in an electricity pylon, setting off an explosion.

The cast includes the likes of Aliyah Royale (Iris), Alexa Mansour (Hope), Annet Mahendru (Huck), Nicolas Cantu (Elton), Hal Cumpston (Silas) and Nico Tortorella (Felix).

Tortorella said of his character earlier this month: “His name is Felix and he is very much the protector of a younger generation.

"The show is focusing on a younger generation of people, 10 years post-apocalypse, and I'm kind of the dad in charge," he added to the Chicago Tribune.

The Walking Dead's chief content officer and the spin-off's co-creator Scott Gimple previously teased that there would be even more projects set in the world of Robert Kirkman’s comics.

"There's a big secret about The Walking Dead universe - all these years we've just seen a tiny sliver of The Walking Dead world. There's a whole lot of world out there,” he revealed at Comic Con.

"The big secret is that all along, there have been other civilisations that survived the apocalypse.

"We saw hints of that in Season 7 of The Walking Dead and again in [Fear the Walking Dead season 5 episode] 'The End of Everything,' and now we're about to show a lot more of the world in a bunch of different projects."
