His new eight part series I Bought The Farm on Amazon Prime Video follows him at his Cotswolds home across a farming year.

The Sun columnist, 59, said: “Good news! I can finally confirm that I’m going to be spending the next year, in the rain, making a show about farming for Amazon Prime.

“Of course to be a farmer you have to be an agronomist, a businessman, a politician, an accountant, a vet, and a mechanic. And I’m none of those things. I don’t even know what agronomist means.”

It comes after The Sun revealed he broke down in tears on The Grand Tour last year announcing he and co-stars Richard Hammond, 49, and James May, 56, would stop their traditional studio shows.

Instead they are focusing on longer adventures as well as each doing their own projects.

James will present a documentary on Japan and Richard is working with Mythbusters star Tory Belleci.

The Grand Tour is set to return later this year.

Georgia Brown, Director of European Amazon Original Series, said: “Jeremy is one of Britain’s finest exports and I think I speak for the entire nation when I say I can’t wait to see what will happen when he turns his usually petrol-covered hands to life on a working farm.

“We’re excited to bring this latest UK produced Amazon Original series to Prime Video viewers around the world next year. Wishing you lots of luck Jeremy — what could possibly go wrong?”

Peter Fincham, Co-CEO of production company Expectation which is making the show, said: “I’m excited to be one of Jeremy’s farm hands. He’s really passionate about farming, and tractors, and all the other stuff that he thinks he knows about.

“This series will showcase a new, wiser, muddier Jeremy than we’ve seen before. Can’t wait.”
