Who is Sophie Dahl and what books has she written?
SOPHIE Dahl is the famous British author who has penned a number of best-selling novels and cookery books since 2003.
Prior to this career path, the famous daughter of Tessa Dahl and Julian Holloway was known as one of the biggest models in fashion - but what else do we know about her?
Who is Sophie Dahl?
Sophie Dahl is an English author and supermodel from London, born on September 15, 1977.
She was constantly surrounded by creative people given that her parents are actor Julian Holloway and novelist Tessa Dahl, which quickly saw Sophie develop an interest in writing.
Given the success of both parents, Sophie found herself being whisked away through 10 schools and 17 homes throughout her education including India, New York and London.
Sophie had previously told that her childhood was “odd,” but she also credits acknowledges the excitement that came with being the daughter of two creatives, describing it as “magical” in some sense.
"My childhood was such an odd one, but with such magic, and the quirky grown-ups who were in it managed to still bring a huge sense of love and magic, so for that I'm really grateful,” she said in the 2007 interview.
Also, I think I really hate bitter books, and bitter people."
At just 18, following a meeting with Vogue stylist and former British Vogue editor Isabella Blow, Sophie landed herself a career in fashion.
She made her debut on the runway when she walked for Lainey Keogh’s London fashion week show, showcasing a number of pieces from the Autumn/Winter knitwear collection.
Modeling would see her go on to helm campaigns for some of the biggest brands including Versace, Gap, Alexander McQueen and Godiva amongst others.
And if that wasn’t enough, she’s also graced the cover of magazines such as Elle, British and Italian Vogue, Harper’s Bazaar, Red and plenty more.
Needless to say, she’s a legitimate model, that’s for sure.
And after becoming the face of Yves Saint-Laurent’s Opium in 2003, it was just three years later when she made the sudden decision to tackle a new chapter in her life - her love for writing.
On January 9, 2010, Sophie married her longtime partner and jazz singer Jamie Cullum.
The two welcomed their first child - daughter Lyra - on March 2, 2011, before going on to have another child - a second daughter named Margot - on March 4, 2013.
The family is believed to be living a quiet and peaceful life out in Buckinghamshire.
What books has she written?
In 2003, Sophie published her very first book titled The Man with the Dancing Eyes under Bloomsbury Publishing.
Following in her mother’s footsteps, the publication was a success and went on to earn the British beauty her very first Times bestseller.
She’s released a number of fiction and cookery books since then:
