Hollyoaks actress Sarah Jayne Dunn reveals son, 3, has been rushed to hospital after falling ill – and she’s had to take time off soap as Mandy
HOLLYOAKS actress Sarah Jayne Dunn has revealed her three-year-old son is in hospital after falling ill.
The 38-year-old told fans she had to take time away from playing Mandy Richardson on the soap while caring for her little boy.
She said: "I’ve had the most emotionally draining & stressful week of my life.
"I can’t wait for my little man to be back to full health first & foremost.
"Then I can’t wait to be back on set doing a job that I love & working with people that make me smile."
Sarah chose not to disclose any more details about her son's illness.
It's the first time Sarah has posted on social media in the last two weeks.
Updating fans with news of her son's ill health, Sarah posted a snap of herself and actress Steph Waring laughing on set.
She added: "Love ya @stephwaring. Fingers crossed it won’t be much longer before I’m back."
Her co-star Chelsee Healey commented on the touching post, saying: "Been thinking about you and stanley sending lots of love luck and prayers."
Sarah first joined Hollyoaks back in 1996 for 12 years, but has been back and forth ever since to reprise her role.
She recently revealed she struggles to switch off from her dark and traumatic stroylines.
Some of her most harrowing storylines include Mandy revealing she was sexually abused as a child, coping with her husband's rape, her daughter's death and her current unborn son being diagnosed with spina bifida.
Speaking exclusively to The Sun Online she said: "Sometimes you come home at the end of the day and you’ve been crying all day you can’t switch off.
"You can become consumed with it and spend a lot of your time reading scripts and learning lines for the next day so if you’ve got a long day you often don’t switch off.

"It's because you’re straight in from work, you have your tea, and then it's 'Right I’ve got to look at my scenes for tomorrow and back into heavy stuff again'.
"But the show's good with us, we balance things nicely with nice story lines in between.
"You might have a few months of it being full on [misery], but you know that that’s not forever."
