THERE are some upsetting scenes coming up in EastEnders this week as troubled Bex Fowler attempts to take her own life.

Anyone watching the BBC One soap recently will have seen Bex – who’s played by Jasmin Arnold – struggling under the weight of the pressures that have been building up.

In tomorrow night’s episode Bex’s oblivious mum, Sonia, throws a surprise party for her daughter before she heads of to university, but Bex is reluctant to go.
She then pretends to enjoy herself at the bash at the Vic, but Lisa Fowler sees that something is troubling Bex and urges her to speak to Sonia about it.

But Bex brushes Lisa off before she makes a speech and sneaks off. While the party continues at the pub, a deeply distressed Bex will be seen planning to take her own
life.

As a new day dawns on the Square, Sonia is devastated when she finds her daughter unresponsive in her bed.
The teen will be rushed off in an ambulance and Sonia is relieved when Bex wakes up. But the former-nurse then denies that Bex’s intentions were to take her own life.
When Stuart Highway shows her a note left by Bex, Sonia is adamant that it was an accident.

It was announced last month that EastEnders has been working closely with The Samaritans on Bex’s heart-breaking storyline.
Boss Jon Sen told The Sun Online: "We wanted to take Bex on a journey which accurately reflected the crises facing many young people today – many of whom, like Bex, struggle under the mounting pressures placed on teenagers today.
"We can encourage others in Bex’s position to realise there’s always help and there’s always hope and we hope that others will be encouraged to start a
conversation if they are worried about someone they know.

"Having worked closely with Samaritans, our wish is that by telling this story we can encourage others in Bex’s position to realise there’s always help and there’s always
hope and we hope that others will be encouraged to start a conversation if they are worried about someone they know."
