Is The Capture coming back for a second season?

The BBC have now confirmed the show will be back for a second series.

But in a twist that might shock fans, Holliday Grainger will return as DI Rachel Carey while the show’s other lead played by Callum Turner won’t be coming back.

Like Line of Duty, the new series will have a whole new focus – the major success of Line of Duty is likely to be the reason for this move.

Piers Wenger, the BBC drama boss said: “The BBC is so proud of The Capture which gripped and enticed audiences, and grew its audience each week from episode three – which is no mean feat.”

The first series had 22million streaming requests on BBC iPlayer.

How does season 1 end?

Spoiler warning!

Mysterious character called Jessica Mallory – played by Bond girl Famke Janssen – arrives in town.

Her auspicious arrival comes as the intelligence services face their deepest secrets being revealed.

In the finale, Rachel unexpectedly switches sides and joins the Correction team, whose dodgy dealings she had spent the series trying to undercover.

It’s also revealed that Shaun did kill a man while in Afghanistan.

But Shaun didn’t kill Hannah, which is proved by a recording that Rachel chooses not to share – maybe it’ll get a look-in during the second series.
