A worried Kush – Davood Ghadami – has a heart-to-heart with Jean and makes her realise just how much Daniel meant to her.

The next day Kush supports Jean as she attends Daniel’s memorial service, which is hosted by his neighbour, Mike.

This week fans will see Jean continue to support Daniel through his treatment. But he has something to tell Jean – and it’s something she’s not prepared for.

The pair have grown close in their final months

In an exciting trailer for what to expect from the BBC One soap in the autumn, Daniel – who’s played by Adrian Edmondson – is seen admitting his feelings to Jean before they share their first kiss.

In a sweet scene from the trailer, Daniel tells a stunned Jean, ‘I like you Jean Slater, how’s that for the truth?’

It was announced back in May that former Young Ones star Adrian would be appearing for a guest stint in the Square.

Adrian has enjoyed an illustrious career in television and was a comedy heavyweight in the 80s and 90s, famous for his roles in The Young Ones and Bottom.

More recently, Adrian, who is married to comedy legend Jennifer Saunders, has taken on more diverse roles in numerous dramas including: Holby City, Bancroft and War and Peace.

Speaking about joining EastEnders, Adrian said at the time: “There were only fifteen boys on my drama course at Manchester Uni, and I’ll be the third to appear in EastEnders – so I feel it’s a kind of tradition!

“The other two being Tom Watt (Lofty Holloway) and Paul Bradley (Nigel Bates)”.

Executive Producer Jon Sen added: “Adrian’s a phenomenal talent who will bring his unique blend of intelligence, warmth and humour to the role of Daniel.

“We’re all over the moon he’s coming to Walford and can’t wait for this love story to hit screens later this year.”
