CORONATION Street fans should brace themselves for some disturbing scenes tonight as Paul Foreman finally realises that he was groomed and sexually abused by his former stepdad, Kel.
Paul – who’s played by Peter Ash in the ITV soap – has been in turmoil since Kel arrived back in his life a few weeks ago.
After revealing to Billy Mayhew that he and Kel had a fling in the past, he was left stunned when Billy suggested that the relationship was actually abuse.
In Coronation Street tonight, a drunken Paul tries to kiss Kel, but when Kel resists Paul recoils in horror when he realises that the older man only fancied him as a young boy.
All of Paul’s conflicting emotions soon come tumbling out of him and the result is him violently attacking Kel.
He ends up knocking the paedo unconscious and leaving him for dead in the ginnel.
Later, Paul’s sister Gemma – Dolly-Rose Campbell – spots his bleeding hand and he lies to her that he hurt it in his van door.
Before long Kel is discovered and taken to hospital and Paul is forced to confess to a confused Gemma that he was lying and actually gave Kel a beating.
Gemma then pleads with their mum, Bernie, not to grass Paul to the police.
Meanwhile, Paul tells Billy what he did and that he’s put Kel in a coma. Billy implores Paul to go to the police and confess, but to also reveal how Kel abused him as a child.
On Wednesday, Paul is relieved when he learns that although Kel has suffered a bleed to the brain, he should make a full recovery.
When the police quiz Kel about the attack, he lies and says he was jumped by a gang of lads which he didn’t see.
Paul arrives at Billy’s having come back from the station.
He admits that he couldn’t bring himself to report Kel to the police as it would mean raking up the horrible past, which he needs to come to terms with first.
