The 31-year-old also ranted about his family in the social media live stream - and how the temporary restraining order saw him forced to give up his guns.

Before getting the tattoo permanently etched onto his face, Aaron said: "I can't have any f***ing firearms right now, because my f***ing family got them taken away from me."

He then grinned as a tattoo artist inked Rihanna's 2013 cover onto the side of his face.

The image depicts the Bajan beauty as Medusa, a mythical Greek creature who had snakes for hair.

Aaron already has several tattoos all over his body - including his neck - but this is the first one to cover his face.

Concerned viewers of the Instagram livestream contacted the police, with Aaron being visited twice by authorities amid reports that he was having a "medical emergency".

However, both times the cops left after speaking to the singer.

Earlier this month, it was revealed that 39-year-old Nick Carter, and Aaron's twin sister Angel, had obtained restraining orders against their sibling.

They said in the reports that they feared they and their families were in danger from their brother's "increasingly alarming behaviour" - coupled with his huge array of guns and rifles that he had flaunted on social media.

Aaron insisted that he sold all of the firearms on Thursday, telling fans: "I don't want to speak about my family anymore, really, it's just not something that I want to mention, cause I kind of feel like it's like a set-up, left and right, and I just want to avoid it."

Nick previously claimed on social media that Aaron had confessed to having "thoughts and intentions of killing [Nick's] pregnant wife and unborn child".

He said: "I do not wish harm to anyone, especially my family."

According to , Aaron has to stay at least 100 feet away from Nick, Nick's wife and children and other family members.

Aaron first shot to fame at the age of nine following the release of his self-titled debut album, which sold a million copies worldwide.

He had several appearances on Nickelodeon over the years, and also toured with huge stars including Britney Spears and brother Nick's band The Backstreet Boys.

Earlier this month, Aaron claimed in a Twitter rant that his late sister Leslie raped him as a child.

He wrote that Leslie, who passed away in 2012, sexually abused him when she wasn't on medication.

Aaron said: "My sister raped me from the age of 10 to 13 years old.

"I have spent the last 15 years of my life going to therapy for abuse and rape, I've been through many different treatments, I have finally found the right treatment.

"I have had my ups and downs, I continue to work on my mental health and i will soon not have to take anything."
