Demi Moore reveals she cheated on first husband Freddy the night before their wedding in new autobiography
DEMI Moore has revealed she cheated on first husband Freddy Moore the night before their wedding.
Writing in her candid new book Inside Out, Demi told how the 17-year-old her realised she was only wedding the musician to distract herself from her dad Danny's suicide.
In an excerpt published by , she explained: "The night before we got married, instead of working on my vows, I was calling a guy I'd met on a movie set.
"I snuck out of my own bachelorette party and went to his apartment. Why did I do that? Why didn't I go and see the man I was committing to spend the rest of my life with to express my doubts?
"I couldn't face the fact that I was getting married to distract myself from grieving the death of my father.
"Because I felt there was no room to question what I'd already put in motion. I couldn't get out of the marriage, but I could sabotage it."
At the time of the wedding, Demi and Freddy - who is 12 years older than the actress - had only been dating for a matter of months.
They met in a nightclub in 1979 while Feddy was married to his wife Lucy.
However, Demi felt no guilt about splitting the couple up, writing: "I was a self-absorbed teenager who hadn’t been raised with a lot of respect for the institution of marriage."
Despite her infidelity, Demi's marriage to Freddy still lasted five years before she filed for divorce, with it being finalised in 1985.
She met second husband Bruce Willis at a premiere in 1987, and he immediately swept Demi off her feet, showering her with attention and lavishing her with trips on private jets.
But the honeymoon period didn't last.
The 56-year-old actress said of their marriage: “We had a whirlwind, truncated infatuation that morphed into a full-on family, all in our very first year. When reality set in, I don’t know if we really knew each other.”
They had three daughters together and divorced in 2000.
Demi went on to marry actor Ashton Kutcher in 2005, but again their relationship was plagued with issues, and they divorced in 2013.
