But in reality, Sue, who has starred on Corrie for 23 years, hardly drinks and has attributed her weight loss to giving up wine after overconsumption during the pandemic.
She said: “In the pandemic we all over-did things. I spent a lot of it drinking lots of lovely red wine and I put on a lot of weight doing it.
"Then I did dry January and I thought: ‘I wonder what life would be like if I stopped completely?’”
But it was after discovering that she had type 2 diabetes in 2011, that since her mid 50s, Sue has been more health conscious. She decided to follow the Mediterranean diet which she said back in 2019 helped her to drop 3 dress sizes from a size 16 to a size 12.
AS well as looking leaner, Sue also revealed that her mood is much improved since she made the decision to take HRT. Speaking in an interview last year she said: “I went on HRT about a year and a half ago and realised I should have done that about five years ago.”I was walking around in a bit of a fog and then I literally made some massive changes.
Sue, who is married to TV lighting technician Brian Owen has a grown up son Elliot and is now a grandmother. She told that she feels more confident now that she’s older.
“I want a few more adventures. It becomes your default to stay in this safe little world that you’ve created and not step outside it and rock the boat.
"It’s a different phase of my life. I’m not responsible for anybody anymore and I feel a lot more confident."
