Towie legend gives Valentine’s Day advice to singletons following romantic engagement
They may be floating on a cloud right now, but the journey to true love hasn't always been smooth sailing for Gemma and Rami.
NEWLY engaged Gemma Collins has one message for singletons this Valentine’s Day – never give up on finding love.
The TOWIE star was taken by surprise when her long-term partner Rami Hawash, 49, popped the question during a luxury getaway in The Maldives.
The romantic proposal came 14 years after the couple first got together, and now, after sharing the photographs with her followers on social media, Gemma urged them never to give up hope:
“I want you all to know that the universe will lead you to who you’re meant to be with. If you’re single this Valentine’s Day embrace yourself because one day, he/she/they/them are coming for you. So live your life and trust the process.”
And Gemma confessed that she had no idea that Rami was intending to propose and wasn’t wearing a bra when the moment arrived.
“I had no make-up on, no bra on, I thought I was having a chilled beach dinner.”
The 43-year-old who is stepmum to Rami’s young son Tristan, also suggested that she is a living inspiration for those who have been unlucky in love.
She said: “ I spent so many years not being appreciated for the woman I am. Wasted so much time on the wrong people who took advantage of my good nature heart. However, it leads me to my king Rami Hawash and he is man enough for the GC.”
Gemma and Rami first got engaged back in 2013 but split up as she wasn’t ready to settle down at the time.
During lockdown, they rekindled their romance after a chance meeting at a music concert following the tumultuous break up with her TOWIE co-star James Argent.
Then in 2022, Gemma revealed that Rami had asked her to marry him again, but admitted that they had to wait for Rami’s divorce paperwork to come through before they could make any solid plans.
Previously Gemma has compared her and Rami’s relationship to the on-again off-again Hollywood lovebirds, Jennifer Lopez and Ben Affleck who are now married.
She said: “Every time I see Jen and Ben that is me and Rami all over.”
In the past Gemma has expressed her desire to get married abroad, insisting that her big day will be anything but small.
Speaking to Judi Love on the Big Breakfast in 2022, she said:
“I’ve finally found the venue. It’s going to be in Mykonos. It will be the big event everyone is going to expect. It ain’t going to be low-key.”
