RICHARD Madeley made a shock return to Good Morning Britain today - just days after he was forced out of I'm A Celebrity... Get Me Out Of Here! due to a health scare.
His co-star Ben Shephard previously said that the 65-year-old star was "too ill" to be on the breakfast show today, but he was back in the studio after all.
Richard looked happy and healthy as he insisted that he is "as fit as a fiddle" following a dramatic few days - but gave the reason behind his "disturbing" medical emergency.
He said that he "wasn't functioning at all" when he woke up "incoherent" and "unable to string a sentence together".
Asked if he knew when he was taken to hospital that he wouldn't be able to get back into camp, Richard explained: "No, the penny didn't drop - mind you, I wasn't functioning at all.
"I think what happened to me was I got dehydrated, that's all it was, but dehydration is actually quite disturbing - basically I think I'd been up for about 20 hours, I knew I was feeling thirsty and I'm quite bad at remembering to drink water.
"As I snuggled into my sleeping bag, and it was freezing, I thought I'd not had a big drink in a while but I'll do it when I wake up in the morning.
"Next thing I know I was sitting there babbling, just talking nonsense."

The star went on: "Basically, I woke up and I didn't know where I was, what was going on, and I could hardly string a sentence together. As it turned out, it was harmless.
"I went to hospital, I had all the tests you can imagine and I got a 100 per-cent clean bill of health - they were happy for me to go back in.
"But ITV have a proper duty of care and if you've got someone sitting in the castle talking nonsense at 4.30am they've got to check it out, and it wasn't until I was getting the meds back and was told I'm fine to go back in that I suddenly thought: 'Can I go back in? I've broken the bubble.'"
Richard added: "I spoke to a producer, and they were very upset, but there was just no way."

The TV favourite left crew and cast mates terrified when he fell ill in the early hours of Thursday morning, and he was quickly whisked to hospital.
While he was then given the all clear to return to camp, he was forced out of the reality show because he'd broken the set's ultra-secure Covid bubble.
Richard admitted it was "simply not an option" for him to go back in amid the show's stringent safeguarding rules amid the pandemic.
Concerned viewers previously accused the trial of making Richard ill after he was spotted visibly shaking as he complained about being "freezing".

In a statement, he'd previously admitted to being "gutted" to leave the show after just four days - with his daughter Chloe saying on Instagram that he is "livid".
However, Richard is expected to pick up his full £200,000 fee because his departure was out of his control, but he insisted on GMB today that he is leaving the finances for his agents to sort out.
